Let’s Geography!

Discussing world geography, one country at a time! Topic: Bhutan

Do you hear about places in the news and realize you have no idea where they are? Are you unable to distinguish one Scandinavian country from another? Is Italy the only European country you are confident you could pick out on a blank map? Is Asia a complete mystery? Is Africa only slightly less mysterious but only because you are reasonably certain where South Africa is? Did you feel maybe a little bit sorry for and identify with the US Ambassador to the United Nations when she got that prank call about Binomo and didn’t know it wasn’t really a country? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be geography-challenged. Good news! You are not alone and we are going to do something about it!

Let’s Geography!!

One evening a month we will meet to discuss a country somewhere in the world, locate it on a map, and share everything we have been able to find out about it. There’s so much to learn: people, rivers, cities, language, mountains, food, customs, music, exports, politics, weather, philosophy. We’ll all teach and learn together, and then we’ll choose a country for next time. We’ll start with Bhutan. Never heard of it? All right then, go look it up and come tell us all about it. Hosted by Teresa Cokl the third Thursday of each month.
