SNEAK PREVIEW! This presentation will be given at the SSA Con in July! Please join us as we host Angel Garcia, the current President of SSA group @ ASU!

The presentation will focus on the negative effects of dogmatic and ideological thinking and how critical thinking and enlightened discourse can be achieved through open-mindedness and rationality. We will discuss why your argument isn’t valid just because its your argument, why an argument needs reasoning and evidence to be valid, and how you are not entitled to your own facts. As freethinkers, we should be models of open-mindedness and rationality and the presentation will discuss how acceptance of these principles can lead to an enlightened and well-off society.

The talk will be following by a Q&A/discussion period.

Angel Garcia is a senior at Arizona State University, majoring in History and Economics, and current President of Secular Student Alliance at ASU. Raised Christian, he began to leave religion when he noticed fellow high school peers rejecting scientific evidence and rationality in favor of religious dogma. Now an atheist, he values open-mindedness and rationality, and hopes to see both fellow citizens and elected leaders embrace those principles more. He loves spending time with his family dogs and is anticipating the next season of Game of Thrones.

Pizza and soft-drinks will be provided! This event is free and open to the public. Please bring any food or drinks that you'd like to share.
