Food Security Project: Volunteer at Project Roots Soups Kitchen in Mesa

HSGP is humbly grateful to work with Project Roots in their passion for feeding people.

Volunteer Opportunity!

Join HSGP in a partnership with Project Roots, a non-profit organization based in Phoenix. Project Roots focuses on ways to educate the community about growing their own food through various educational programs. They support the homeless and those with food insecurities by feeding them from their local community gardens and kitchen. https://www.projectrootsaz.org/

Meet some Happy Humanists and have a good time working in the Local First Community Kitchen.

The kitchen we use is a shared space. We will help the chef to make a dish or soup with the leftover produce from the gardens for 40-100 people depending on how much food there is. **YOU WILL NEED YOUR FOOD HANDLERS CERTIFICATE PRIOR TO YOUR SHIFT**

RSVP on Meetup HERE, then be sure to check your Meetup messages for Jennifer's mobile phone number and to see any updates for you.

***A current food handler's certificate is required. HSGP will reimburse you for the cost. You can get your certificate online from any ANSI-approved company. It's quick and $10 or less.***

Meet at the Local First Community Kitchen. Jennifer will give you a volunteer waiver to sign. Bring a copy of your food handler's certificate and your receipt for reimbursement.

**Can't volunteer in person, but want to help with HSGP's Food Security Project? Click the link to donate. Be sure to put "Food Security Project" in the contribution note. Thank you!
