Humanities Project: Limerick Contest – by Popular Demand!

Humanities Project Monthly Cultural Presentation & Meeting

You asked for it: It's time for a limerick contest!

We are looking for your original limericks. They can be topical, nonsensical, bawdy, political - whatever. Let your imagination fly.

**Not submitting an entry? No problem. Bring some limericks by other people and join us on Zoom to enjoy together. Or come to just listen and laugh.

From Wikipedia:
A limerick is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic meter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme. The following example is a limerick of unknown origin:

The limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I've seen
So seldom are clean
And the clean ones so seldom are comical.

NOW THE RULES:
1. Submit up to ten of your best original efforts to: zenaido@aol.com by August 28th.
2. Jennifer and Zenaido will pick the best ten of all the submissions and send them to every participant by September 4th.
3. The participants will rank them 1-10 with #1 being best and return the ranked list to zenaido@aol.com by September 9th.
4. The top 3 will win "fabulous" prizes. All the limericks will be read and the winners will be announced at the Zoom meeting on September 11th!

What are the prizes? They will be revealed in good time.

Good luck and have fun!
