Sunday Speaker Topic: Gender Diversity
Description:
Gender diversity is a reality, not a choice. Too many LGBTQ+ patients around the country are confronted with shamefully limited options when seeking competent and compassionate medical care.
Bio:
Jessica is a licensed family practice nurse practitioner (FNP) with prescriptive authority certified as a gender‐affirming care provider with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and as an HIV specialist with the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana University South Bend (IUSB), where she piloted the incorporation of transgender and gender diverse healthcare into the curriculum for nurse practitioners. This education was then rolled out to the undergraduate nursing curriculum as well. In 2017, she presented on gender‐affirming care at the Sigma Theta Tau International Conference in Indianapolis. Before moving out west, she worked with Mosaic Health and Healing Arts, Indiana’s first family medicine practice to be openly accepting of LGBTQ+ patients. Prior to launching Gamut Health, she worked with the Transgender Health Program of St. John’s Well Child and Family Center, one of the largest federally qualified health centers in California.
