Sunday Speaker: Andrew Seidel – Christian Nationalism is Un-American

HSGP & FFRF Valley of the Sun proudly present "Christian Nationalism is Un-American" presented by Andrew Seidel.

The attack on the Capitol on January 6th was fueled by White Christian Nationalism. Author and constitutional attorney will discuss the threat Christian nationalism poses to the nation, something he's been warning and writing about since before Trump's rise to power. The talk will focus on how to defeat the Christian nationalist identity and Seidel's book, which focuses on the same.

Andrew L. Seidel is an author and a constitutional and civil rights attorney. He is the Director of Strategic Response at the Freedom From Religion Foundation, where he works to keep state and church separate and educate the public about nonbelief. His first book The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American came out 20 months before Christian nationalists attacked the Capitol and proved his subtitle correct. Renowned constitutional scholar Erwin Chemerinsky who described it as "a beautifully written book" that "explodes a frequently expressed myth: that the United States was created as a Christian nation." It was also burned by a Christian nationalist preacher. Andrew writes widely numerous outlets and is working on a second book, Weaponizing Religious Freedom, due out next Spring.
