 k is designed to analyze the modern interpretation
 s and declarations put forth by both secular and r
 eligious organizations to refute evolution from a 
 monotheistic perspective. From young earth creatio
 nism to intelligent design\, lectures will cover t
 he recent historical development of the deity-insp
 ired arguments against evolution. We will also exa
 mine the modern political\, historical\, and cultu
 ral events and ideas that overtly or covertly cont
 ributed to this intellectual conflict and its inte
 ractions with American society.</p>\n <p> </p>\n <
 p><strong>Bio:</strong></p>\n <p>Ken Sweat is a te
 aching professor and Senior Global Futures Scienti
 st in the School of Mathematical and Natural Scien
 ces at ASU West Valley\, where he has worked since
  2000. Dr. Sweat’s research and teaching has cover
 ed projects in cannabis/hemp horticulture\, using 
 plants to remediate environmental contamination\, 
 the use of pollen in forensic investigations\, des
 ert flora and adaptations\, and science education.
  As part of his work at the west valley campus\, D
 r. Sweat is the organizing faculty member for the 
 Desert Restoration Zone/Carbon Sequestration Fores
 t and a contributing faculty for the community gar
