Whether seen a satirized on Broadway or through iconic images of what Reagan dubbed as "America's Choir", Mormonism- or the religion espoused by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints- has stood at the center of both public controversy, distant curiosity, and fascination since its inception in the early 19th century. Founded in claims of lost books of scripture, contemporary revelation, and a restored form of primitive Christianity synthesized with elements of American folk-magic, freemasonry, and aspects of ancient Judaism, Mormonism remains unique among new religious movements especially within a modern-Western context. Though still considered to be in its infancy on the world stage, recent decades have highlighted multiple interesting developments in the Mormon demographic, specifically in terms of age. This presentation will elaborate on several of the recent happenings among Mormonism's millennial generation which may be used to make predictions on what the future holds for this American faith group.
