As we rightly focus on the problems of our troubled nation and world, it's easy to forget what powerful intellectual tools we have at our disposal, how successful our wielding of them has been, and how far our democratic humanist values have taken us.

Moreover, in our efforts to apply our humanism to concrete issues, it's easy to lose sight of the big picture: what our overall values are and how they link together the matters we care about the most. It's time to take stock of what humanism really means, how much it has done and can do, and how we can best apply it toward the improvement of civilization. And it's time for us to reconsider what we can individually do, as humanists, to make an impact on our community and beyond.

This presentation will include guided discussion and brainstorming.
