Spencer Hawkins will present a philosophically informed approach to atheism and religious disagreement.

There is a growing trend within the atheist community to defend atheism as merely a "lack of belief" in God, and nothing more. It is argued by some that atheists do not shoulder a burden of proof. However, there are several things wrong with this approach.

Spencer Hawkins will present reasons for rejecting this particular defense of atheism, and offer a more philosophically informed approach to atheism and religious disagreement.

Spencer Hawkins studies philosophy and religious studies at Arizona State University, and is the author of a self-published book called Contra Christian Apologetics.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Doors open at 9:00 am for socializing with an optional Continental breakfast available for a $5 donation. The meeting begins at 10:00 am.

A Children's Program is available during the Speaker Meeting. Please see the HSGP Meetup for the Children's Program at this meeting for more information and to RSVP with the number of children attending.
